These shots were really fun to take, I had a blast doing them. I wish I would have started a little sooner to experiment some more with them. For all of the shots I used a super bright LED flashlight. The top one I got some cool shots by moving the light really fast in loops and such, I like the design here that came out. For the second one I have two screens up and I moved my camera down and to the side hoping for a water fall kind of look. The last one I was able to get the light to shine on both sides of the wall without lighting up the microwave too much. These were all a blast.

Bannack Best

| Witch Craft | 5/24/2012 12:22 AM | Bannack Ghost Town | 22.0 | 1/25 | Canon T3i |

For the truck I adjusted the levels after making a new layer. Then I played with the contrast on a new layer. I then put a black and white layer on it and brought out the ford and orange. For the tractor I also played with the levels after making a new layer and then added a sepia layer to it. I then brought out the tractors colors. And for the barn one here, I was just being dumb and took this picture but ended up liking it so I played with the levels and the channels and ended up liking this.

HDR

| HDR 1 | 5/24/2012 11:41 AM | Bannack Ghost Town | 22 | 1/30 | Canon T3i |

| HDR 2 | 5/24/2012 8:20 AM | Bannack Ghost Town | 22 | 1/60 | Canon T3i |

For these HDR’s I just used photomatix and then played with the levels a little in photoshop. They were a lot of fun to take though, they were difficult at first but the idea of taking the best qualities of these shots and blending them into one is awesome.

Macro Abstract

| Macro Nails | 5/24/2012 11:48 AM | Bannack Ghost Town | 5.6 | 1/400 | Canon T3i |

This was a fun shot to take. I learned that you cant take a picture of the majority of it isn’t in focus haha so I had to step back a little and then take the picture of the nails. I actually had a lot of texture shots but I liked this one the most. I used the overlay of two images method and then just masked out the texture and turned the opacity down of the texture level.

Reverse Shallow Depth

| Outhouse | 5/24/2012 11:54 AM | Bannack Ghost Town | 5.0 | 1/800 | Canon T3i |

| Fence | 5/24/2012 11:55 AM | Bannack Ghost Town | 5.0 | 1/500 | Canon T3i |

Wow these were also a lot of fun to take, I loved playing with the focus and getting more blur. I never really learned how to do this until bannack so it was good for me. I used a levels layer to bring more color out of the sky then I masked out everything but the sky back to normal and then used another levels layer to add a little more to the forground and masked out the sky.

Action Blur/Freeze

| Proudest Moment | 5/24/2012 12:01 PM | Bannack Ghost Town | 5.6 | 1/640 | Canon T3i |

| Ghost Town | 5/24/2012 12:37 PM | Bannack Ghost Town | 14.0 | 6 | Canon T3i |

For the action freeze one I ended up walking by and taking this shot real quick, I was kind of far away but I liked it more than my others. I used another layer to add some blur and then bring her out. For the blur shot I used a lot of layers haha, one for levels, one for saturation, and one for contrast. But this was a fun shot to take.

Portraits

| Feminine | 5/24/2012 12:47 PM | Bannack Ghost Town | 5.0 | 1/125 | Canon T3i |

| Masculine | 5/24/2012 12:17 PM | Bannack Ghost Town | 4.5 | 1/160 | Canon T3i |

These were fun to take, I suck at portraits but they were fun shooting them. I could never model, I dont have the seriousness for it haha. I used a blur layer for the top shot and then used the spot healing tool to clean up her face a little because there a ton of just random hairs on her face cuz the weather. For Mark here, I cleaned up his face and neck a little, he had some razor burn so I got rid of that and then I added a black and white layer after selecting him and then the inverse.

Portraits

| Dinner Time | 5/20/2012 12:37 PM | Shelley, Idaho | 2.8 | 1/30 | Sony with manual settings |

For the photo shoot one I cropped my wife a little for a better composition and then I created a new layer and added a blur to it. I then added a mask and brought more focus to my wife.

For the close up I used my wife again because we were going out so it was the perfect chance for some photos, we looked nice and all. I did the same as above but I added another layer and sharpened her eyes a little to bring the focus more on her eyes. She has really blue eyes so I took advantage of that and made them the focus. I also played with a levels adjustment.

For the strike a pose I told her to just be silly and she was while I was just snapping some pics. I did the same as the above two because I didn’t want the background to be more compelling than her.

For the dinner time I was able to snap a couple pics without my mother in law looking because if she knew I took pics of her they wouldn’t be up here haha. She does not like pictures but I got her and my wife in their element, making dinner haha but I placed a blur on all of it and then brought out them and whatever they were focusing on doing at that moment.

Overall portraits are not my specialty I am not great at them as you can see, but I did learn a lot. I hope to be able to work on my portrait skills. I am not much of a picture guy as it is, I hate when people take my picture so me taking pictures of others is still weird for me, let alone them probably.

Camera Raw

| WindMill | 5/12/2012 1:47 PM | Idaho Falls, Idaho | 5.0 | 1/4000 | Sony with manual settings |

| Ledge Trail | 5/12/2012 2:35 PM | Idaho Falls, Idaho | 3.2 | 1/1600 | Sony with manual settings |

For the windmill picture I was in some pain so you will have to bear with me on this weeks photos, I wrecked on dirtbike on my way out here so I was just trying to get some pictures and get to the doctor. I played with the darks and contrast to give it a bigger shadow and then I played with the saturation to get more blue out of it. I like how it turned out despite my circumstance.

For the ledge trail this was our last stop on the way back and I just hurried and snapped this one in aperture priority. This one I played with contrast, saturation, and hue. Basically I was just playing with all the features and I stopped here haha. But camera raw is pretty fun.

The vertical shot was one while I was riding my dirtbike on saturday. It was actually a hill I was thinking about attempting to climb with my bike until I wrecked on our way back and jacked up my leg so I just took a picture instead. I just did an adjustment layer and played with the colors to bring more of the green and blue out. This is a total of 6 shots.

The horizontal was on the same trip but we had a great view and so I decided to take a picture of all of what I could see. I liked how it went from city to windmills in the horizon. I had another one that 17 shots but to put it on this blog just doesn’t do it justice so I’m gonna save it for something better. For this shot I used an adjustment layer and played with the contrast and saturation, I really liked what it ended up as. Its too bad this blog wont let us upload bigger pictures because 1000px doesn’t do justice on these panoramics. This is a total of 9 shots.
